Despite disturbing attacks on our faith, our principles, and our candidates, an American Muslim will serve in the Illinois Senate for the first time.
Congratulations to State Senator-Elect Nabeela Syed, our priority race this cycle. A young Asian woman of color, she flipped the district despite record spending against her. We also celebrate all of our Coalition Activate-endorsed candidates who won across Illinois. These are courageous leaders who stood with our communities.
Despite manufactured hatred and heavy corporate spending in races from Congress down to school boards in the most expensive midterms on record, organized people delivered powerful wins. The 2026 midterm elections were marked by high turnout, soaring anti-Muslim hate, a shift in public opinion on Israel’s genocide, and historic wins.
We’re celebrating Coalition Activate-endorsed winners across Illinois.
In Nabeela Syed’s priority district, our team and volunteers delivered in the last 4 weeks:
1,165 doors knocked
3,498 phone calls and conversations
10,000+ voter education resources distributed
Deeper engagement builds lasting power in BAMEMSA (Black, African, Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian) communities. In Nabeela’s district, we reached Muslim voters at least three times — far more than the single touch in the primary — to inform, organize, and turn out people ready to shape the outcomes that impact their lives.
Muslim Civic Coalition-Activate endorses candidates who promote civic justice, protect our communities and our tax dollars, confront supremacist ideology, and show up for their neighbors. We ask every candidate to stand against all supremacist ideologies. Courage and moral clarity matter more now than ever.
We’re celebrating the eight communities that delivered a clear mandate for free speech and against Illinois’ anti-BDS law. Voters in Cunningham, Champaign, Kickapoo, Medina, Peoria, Oak Park, Normal, and DuPage affirmed that there can be no exception to free speech — the anti-boycott law must be repealed.
This is a defining moment for our democracy and our communities.
Some act scared of our faith, cultures, and names — but they are scared of our power. Our power as people who vote, organize, and stand for what is right, just, and fair. People who will not stay on the sidelines when our faith calls us to act.
You showed up. You refused to be silenced. You rejected intimidation. You showed what’s possible when we come together to shape our own future.
This was an anti-war election and Illinois voters joined a national call for leaders to listen: tax dollars must be invested in our communities, our schools, and our neighborhoods—not endless wars.
Despite manufactured hatred and heavy corporate spending in races from Congress down to school boards, organized people delivered powerful wins. That is what democracy needs. ISPU data shows registration at 85 percent, higher rates of town hall attendance and campaign volunteering than the public, and clear rejection of the false tropes used against us. Our support cannot be taken for granted. We vote on issues. We organize. We win.
We made history. Now we shape what comes next.
